RVC Infrafund’s portfolio company raises new investments



Alpina Publisher publishing group, which is RVC Infrafund’s portfolio company, has managed to raise investments to develop the Theory and Practice website as an aggregator of educational services. Investor is the co-founder of Qiwi Group and Co-Head of Finnet NTI working group, Sergei Solonin, who received 35% of the special project.

Alpina Holding LLC (Alpina Publisher publishing group) is a group of companies that occupies a leading position in the market of specialized, business and popular science literature in paper and electronic format. Companies inside the Group are also engaged in providing publishing services and developing distance learning courses. In 2014, RVC Infrafund invested in the publishing group and currently owns 10% of holding shares.

Alpina Publisher publishing group is one of the largest Russian publishers that produce application-oriented books," said Vladislav Fedotov, Chief Operating Officer at RVC Infrafund. “However, in terms of its structure the holding places its major business focus on the development of digital technologies and delivery of digital content to users. We are actively developing sub-brands Alpina Digital and Alpina B2B as well as e-commerce. Theory and practice is a platform solution for all knowledge providers in any format and we see strong potential in the promotion of this direction. We regard Sergey Solonin's investments as an unbiased recognition of the investment attractiveness of our portfolio company."

According to Sergei Solonin, the supplementary education market has growth potential, and the "Theory and Practice" is tasked with becoming the entrance into the realm of knowledge for all those who wish to improve practical skills that are in demand now and will be so in future.

Alexander Limansky, General Director of Theory and Practice, believes that raised investments will make "Theories and Practices" not only a popular media, but also a service that will quickly and conveniently provide information on how and for what cost the knowledge desired could be obtained. Investments will be spent on development of the site "Theory and Practices" as an aggregator of educational services, its promotion and attraction of new organizers.

According to, the revenue of Theory and Practice in 2016 amounted to RUB 20.3M, and the net profit was 2 million rubles.
