Under the Cooperation Agreement, a technology brokerage development program in the Russian Federation and interregional network program for start-up schools with acceleration functions will be launched.
The ceremony of signing the roadmap related to implementation of cooperation between RVC and Saint-Petersburg National Research University of Information Technology, Mechanics and Optics (ITMO University) was held on April 22, 2016 on the second day of the II annual forum "Innovation ecosystem: universities and scientific centers» where RVC acts as one of the organizers. The document was signed by the General director of RVC Igor Agamirzyan and rector of ITMO University Vladimir Vasilyev. RVC and ITMO University have been developing partner relationship since 2013, at a time as a Cooperation Agreement was signed. Building and cementing of partner relationship with the leading Russian universities is one of the objectives of RVC in innovation ecosystem development program for universities and scientific organizations.
The roadmap includes an activity plan to implement cooperation between RVC and ITMO University for 2016-2018 in educational, innovation, entrepreneurship, information and consulting areas.
As a part of partnership in educational area, an interregional network program for start-up schools with acceleration functions will be launched; that will ensure not just an increase in quality of the technology start-up products, but also development of Russian universities under the University 3.0 program when the traditional educational and scientific functions are amplified with the entrepreneurship function.
Moreover, RVC and ITMO University planned a set of projects intended for implementation of educational courses and programs aimed at training of investors, innovation managers for high technology business, specialists in development of innovation supporting ecosystem, support to students' IT projects of seed stage.
The technology brokerage development program will be launched as a part of innovation and entrepreneurship activity; the Russia-Finland-Estonia hub was set up for interaction between the start-ups and investors, science and business intended for integration in the European innovation ecosystem through participation in joint educational, research and innovation projects. Besides, measures aimed at establishment of cooperation between business, universities and start-ups will be implemented.
A rating of Russian business incubators and accelerators will be set up and a pilot project in the area of new personal security systems (SafeNet) will be launched as a part of information and consulting activity.
Higher education system is actively changing today. Universities' educational and scientific activity is amplified with entrepreneurship function. Setting up of the up-to-date entrepreneurship and technology environment, external and internal culture becomes an important objective for universities, Evgeniy Kuznetsov, Deputy General Director, Program Director at RVC noted. ITMO University is one of the outstanding entrepreneurship universities in Russia that sets up environment for both efficient education and development and launch of new technology products on the market. Particularly such universities become the key subjects of innovation ecosystems and centers for development of technologies of the future.
ITMO University set up an ecosystem for supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. The university is a venture partner of the RVC Seed Investment Fund, has developed innovation system including business-projects, small innovation companies, innovation infrastructure entities.
The Agreement that was signed today cements and develops the established relationship between ITMO University and RVC — one of our most priority partners. The document ensures new perspectives to implement the most ambitious plans, for example, a program for integration into the European innovation ecosystem, rector of ITMO University Vladimir Vasilyev said.
The II annual forum “Innovation Ecosystem: universities and scientific centers” organized by RVC in partnership with NUST MIS&S and Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation was held on April 21-22 in Moscow. This year, the key theme of the forum was development of innovation ecosystems at universities and scientific organizations, creation of Universities 3.0 and their participation in implementation of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).
