Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Venture Company has been elected
On August 15, 2011 the Board of Directors of Russian Venture Company has elected Ruben Vardanyan the Chairman of the Board.
“The national innovation system competitive on a global scale under current economic conditions could be created through interaction between government institutions and private businesses. This is the kind of a model RVC is implementing”, Ruben Vardanyan commented on his new role as the Chairman of the Board Directors of Russian Venture Company. “The venture business ecosystem in Russia is now in the process of being established. I hope that my knowledge and expertise will help fast forward the process and make it more effective. I would also like to thank all members of the Board for giving me their trust”.
As it was stated earlier, on June 30, 2011 during the Annual General Meeting of RVC shareholders the Federal Agency for State Property Management elected the new members of the Board of Directors of Russian Venture Company (OJSC). The Board is now represented by 7 members:
About Ruben Vardanyan
Ruben Vardanyan is the Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Troika Dialog (www.troika.ru), the leading investment bank in the CIS region. The key lines of business of the company, which was established in 1991, are capital markets, investment banking, asset management, alternative investments, and personal investments and finance. With its headquarters in Moscow, Troika Dialog has representative offices in 20 cities of Russia, and also in New York, London, Nicosia, Kiev and Almaty.
Mr. Vardanian is a Board member at several more entities: OJSC AvtoVAZ, the largest car manufacturer in Eastern Europe, OJSC KAMAZ, the largest truck manufacturer in Eastern Europe, OJSC NOVATEK, the largest independent gas producer in Russia, CJSC SIBUR Holding, the leader of petrochemistry in Russia and Eastern Europe, OJSC Rosgosstrakh, the major insurance player on the Russian market, OJSC Russian Venture Company, a government fund of funds and a development institute of the Russian Federation, and Standard Bank Plc, the leading financial institution in emerging markets internationally. He is Board Chairman of Ameria Bank, the leading bank in Armenia.
In his work as a Board member, Mr. Vardanian chairs several committees: the Personnel and Remuneration Committee (OJSC AvtoVAZ), the Corporate Governance and Compensation Committee (OJSC NOVATEK). He is also a Member of the Personnel and Remuneration Committees at OJSC KAMAZ and a Member of the Audit Committee at OJSC NOVATEK.
Mr. Vardanian served as CEO at Rosgosstrakh from 2002–2004; he then served as Chairman of the Board from 2004–2005. He also served as Chairman of the Board at Sukhoi Civil Aircraft from 2005–2009 and was a Board member at OJSC AK BARS, the largest bank in the Republic of Tatarstan, from 2006–2009, where he was a Member of the Personnel and Remuneration Committee.
In addition, Mr. Vardanian is a member of the following groups: the Expert Council, the Presidential Council for National Priority Projects and Federal Population Policies, the International Presidential Council for creation of the International financial center in the Russian Federation, the State Council for Competitiveness and Entrepreneurial Business under the Government of the Russian Federation, The Presidential education advisory body in South Korea, the Advisory Board of the Russian Economy School Endowment Fund and the Advisory Board of the A. M. Gorchakov Fund to Support Public Diplomacy.
Ruben Vardanian is a member of the Advisory Board of National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia, the International Advisory Board of the Global Leadership Studies at the International Christian University (Japan), the Guanghua School of Management International Advisory Council (China). He is also a Member of the FDC International Advisory Council (Brazil) and the Supreme Religious Council of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Mr. Vardanian is a graduate of Moscow State University, where he earned a degree in economics, graduating with Honors. His post-graduate resume includes training at BANCA CRT in Turin, Italy, Merrill Lynch's Emerging Markets Training Program in New York City (1992), as well as coursework at INSEAD (France) and the Harvard Business School.
On August 15, 2011 Ruben Vardanyan was elected Chairman of Board of Directors of the Russian Venture Company.
