80 biotechnology and medicine projects are to pass expert interviews to be given an opportunity to participate in an educational program of BioTechMed accelerator as part of accelerator competition GenerationS to be held in September.
Recall that the national accelerator competition of technology startups GenerationS was initiated by Russian Venture Company and Center for Innovative Development of Moscow.
Applications for participation in the BioTechMed track had been submitted since April, and authors of 323 projects from Russia and abroad have shown their desire to compete for the attention of investors and the grand prize – 5 million rubles. The applications received were reviewed by the Russian Startup Rating system. Now the expert commission of BioTechMed is to evaluate 80 semi-finalists and select the most interesting and promising ideas.
"Our expert pool includes business practitioners and experts in the field of BioTechMed. They are to interview each of the 80 projects to evaluate their technological component and find out if the idea is promising and feasible," says Olga Babkina, Vice Provost for Research Work at Tomsk State University. "In-person and remote Elevator Pitch interviews will be held at two venues – at the TSU business incubator in Tomsk August 20-21 and at API Moscow Krasny Oktyabr August 25-26. In addition, in the framework of the ElevatorPitch program, we have organised together with Russian Venture Company lectures and workshops on the development of business models, business planning, marketing, and IP."
Following the review, the experts will make a short-list of 40 projects. Their representatives will be invited to Tomsk to take part in an intensive educational program of BioTechMed accelerator. The accelerator's Demo Day will be on September 23 as part of the International Forum "Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices" held in Tomsk. Following the Demo Day, 10 winner projects will be qualified for participation in the GenerationS final at Moscow Forum "Open Innovation" on October 15, where they will be given an opportunity to present their projects to the leading Russian and foreign investors.
