The biggest in the history of Russia Third Week of Business Angels is coming to an end. More than 70 events: roundtables, panel discussions, forums and workshops on the subject of the development of early stages venture capital market, were held in 25 regions of Russia. The organizers of regional events for the Week were about 30 specialized operators with the support of the National Association of of Business Angels and RVC. This year the Russian events for the first time became a part of 1-st Global Business-angels Week which was attended by 55 countries of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"One of the priorities of the country is support of small innovative businesses and attraction of extra-budgetary funding into this field. For this reason it is especially important to strengthen horizontal links between entrepreneurs and private investors across the country, – said Artem Shadrin, Director of Innovation Development Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. – For this purpose the Ministry of Economic Development for the third time supports the annual Week of Business Angels organized by the National Association of Business Angels with the support of state institutions and public organizations. This year the week was particularly large-scale, and it proves the effectiveness and demand for this format of work."
The Third Week of Business Angels was held in Barnaul, Belgorod, Veliky Novgorod, Voronezh, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Magadan, Ingushetia, Murmansk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Obninsk, Orel, Orenburg, Perm, Samara, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Stavropol , Tambov, Ulan-Ude, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Yakutsk, Yaroslavl, as well as in Moscow and Moscow region.
The Urals Association of Business Angels (BAUR) which organized 9 events in Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk was recognized as the best operator of the Third Russian Week of Business Angels. Thus, on November 20 in Yekaterinburg there was held a meeting of the membership Business Angels Club which was dedicated to co-investment – cooperation of people, experience and money. The meeting was attended by potential business angels. During the meeting there was held a teleconference with the Centre for support of innovative entrepreneurship of The Bauman Moscow State Technical University on "Prospects of the active participation of early stages venture capital market in “life" of educational institutions."
The club format of the event was supported in Kazan, where on November 22 in the framework of Kazan Startup Week and The Third Week of Russian business angels VentureClub and Pulsar Venture with the support of NBAA and RVC also held a meeting of a private club in the IT park, which brought together over 20 participants. At the meeting business angels and venture capital investors have discussed the possibility of cooperation and assessed several attractive investment projects of the IT Park. On the same day the capital of Tatarstan hosted the "Demoday For Best Startups. Kazan Startup Week", where the best graduates of business incubators and accelerators from all over Russia presented their developments to the most active venture capital funds and business angels of the country.
The events of the week was attended not only by Russian angels, but also by partners from China. On November 20-21 more than 20 Chinese businessmen and representatives of industry associations arrived at the Siberian economic forum "Russia-China: practical aspects of cooperation" held on November 20-21, where the investment business session "Producing of innovations" organized by the Association "Business Angels of Siberia" was held. The main objective of the project – to gather together developers of innovative projects, their potential customers and venture capital investors.
On December 4-5 in Orenburg within the Eurasian Economic Forum and the Third Week of Russian business angels there were held discussions on "Accelerated industrial breakthrough. Realities and opportunities, regional experience and best practices "and the round table" Experience of venture investment in Russia ", where the methodology of investing in innovative projects was discussed. The keynote speaker of both events was Lyudmila Golubkova, managing partner of Starta Capital fund, a member of the National Association of Business Angels.
The culmination of the week was the V Annual Congress and the IV Annual NBAA Award which took place on November 25 in "Skolkovo" Hypercube and brought together more than 150 participants: private investors, venture capital funds, large corporations, development institutions and state authorities. The guest of honour of the Congress – President of the European Business Angels Network (EBAN) Candace Johnson.
The final point of the third week of business angels will be the second annual Business Forum "Startup Generation 2.0: from idea to investment ", which will be held in Samara on December 16th. The forum program includes: round table: "Creation of regional ecosystem of innovation support," a panel discussion with IIDF and RVC: "Best Practices of execution of regional programs of acceleration and start-up schools", information section on support programs by Assistance Foundation and Demoday of the second business catalyst "Startup Samara".
