The results of the final stages of Tech in Media: “Popularizaton of Science” and “Science of Life” have been announced

On October 2nd, within the framework of the opening of the Central Regional Platform of the Festival of Sciences in Krasnoyarsk the winners of laureates of the third regional stage of “Popular Science” completion (innovative journalism Tech in Media founded by RVC) were announced. Later, on October 9th, in Moscow at the opening of NAUKA 0+ Festival the results of the final, fourth stage of “Science in Life” competition were announced. Scott Gilbert, Evolution Biology Professor of Swatmore College, awarded the prizes to the authors of the best reports. The Professor is author of a textbook which deals with all the aspects of general developmental biology.

181 works from 34 regions were admitted to partake in the 3rd stage of the competition. 120 works fully complied with the criteria and were allowed to partake. 79 works from 20 regions were admitted to partake in the 4th stage. 64 works fully complied with the criteria and were allowed to partake.

Within the auspices of III Stage of “Popularization of Sciences” a number of issues were discussed including the works which promote dissemination of a scientific approach among the general public, as well as enhancement of understanding of the role of sciences in modern society. All the works, just like at previous stages, went through a two-stage system of assessment – by the expert committee and the jury. The winners in four nominations were the authors of “Science and Life” magazine, the authors of “Arguments and Facts” newspaper, Afisha-City publication, as well as the reporters of the media center SAFU Arctic Bridge.

The expert committee of IV stage of “Sciences about Life” assessed the works by reporters on scientific and applied aspects of biotechnologies, bioengineering, neurobiology, genetics, molecular neology, and other adjacent areas. The reports of Expert federal magazine, regional St. Petersburg-based magazine St. Petersburg University, as well as the reporters of Lenta.ru and Vesti. Nizhny Novgorod TV program won prizes in various nominations.

The results of the federal stage of Tech in Media competition and cash prize certificate awards ceremony will take place on October 28th during the gala award ceremony for the winners of the Competition within the framework of the Forum and the Technology Show ‘Open Innovations 2015.’ All the winners will have an exclusive opportunity to meet with the Russian and international top speakers of the Forum – these are the leaders in politics, sciences, and business.

Tech in Media innovative journalist competition has been organized since 2011. This year, the competition operator will be the Directorate of the All-Russian Festival of Sciences and Educational Programs – the sci-fi magazine Shredinger Cat.
