The Interdepartmental Working Group (IWG) on the implementation of the National Technology Initiative approved funding in the form of grants and capital investments for technology projects of the Helsnet, Energy, Aeronet, Technet markets, as well as the Club Movement project.
The Energy Market project is aimed at creating an export product in Russia for the maintenance and repair of electrical networks based on an unmanned aircraft system. Potential consumers are enterprises of backbone and distribution electric networks, as well as repair and engineering companies and industrial consumers, which have power supply facilities in their assets.
The Kanatohod complex includes an unmanned helicopter-type transport platform, diagnostic and maintenance modules, as well as software and an automated expert system for detecting violations. The system makes it possible to conduct detailed monitoring and maintenance of power lines automatically. Its implementation will allow us to move from scheduled preventive repairs to “as-is” repairs, make accurate investments in specific problem areas, and extend their life. Automatic diagnostics will also reduce the impact of the human factor, reduce the number of accidents, and eliminate fatalities at work.
The project on the Aeronet market was initiated by Kursir, an R&D division of the RTS Association. Its purpose is the creation of a complex in demand on the world market for conducting flight inspections of radio-technical flight support facilities. The carrier of the testing equipment is an unmanned aircraft system.
Compared to traditional measuring systems, which are aircraft carriers, the development allows to significantly reduce the cost of performing flight inspections by reducing the cost of hours of flights in the airport area and flights between airports, as well as eliminating the cost of labour for flight crews. The fuel economy reaches 270 kg per flight hour, and emissions of harmful substances and noise in the areas of aerodromes are also reduced.
The project of the Aeronet market is aimed at creating a competitive small-sized universal satellite platform that is competitive in price and characteristics, which can be used for remote sensing of the Earth, and in the long term — for the provision of space communications, Internet and television broadcasting services.
The objective of the project is, through the development and production of our own unique onboard systems and the unification of information, mechanical and electrical interfaces, to reduce the weight and dimensions of the satellite platform while maintaining the functionality of the “large” spacecraft — from 600 kg and above. It is expected that the mass of satellites on the platform will be from 80 to 200 kg. This will reduce costs and increase the efficiency of vehicle launches due to the ability to work with various rocket carriers as a passing load.
Sputniks devices will compete with satellites of the DMC-3 class in the UK and SkySat-2 in the USA. Potential customers in Russia are Roskosmos, Rosatom, Rosoboronexport, Roshydromet, and others. The constellations of low-orbit satellites can also be used to detect ice on the Northern Sea Route in the Arctic, to monitor the movement of rolling stock of trains, and other tasks.
During the project, it is planned to develop and market the world's first non-viral gene therapy drug for cancer treatment, which will increase the efficiency and safety of treating cancer patients. At the expense of NTI, it is planned to complete preclinical studies of the drug and conduct clinical studies of I-III phases. The launch of the drug onto the market is planned after 2025.
AntioncoRAN-M implements an approach to the gene therapy of cancer, which includes delivering to the tumour the so-called killer genes, the product of which destroys cancer cells, and the immunostimulant gene, the protein of which activates the antitumour immune response, as a result of which metastasis is suppressed. The process takes place inside the tumour, which reduces its toxicity to normal tissues and organs. The drug can be used to treat cancer of the head and neck, rectum, cervix, sarcoma, and other types of solid tumours. It differs from other gene therapeutic antitumour drugs available on the market and in clinical trials by the simplicity and low cost of production, as well as low immunogenicity and toxicity.
The project on the Technet market is being implemented by S-Innovation to develop a comprehensive digital solution to support high-tech production. The IT solutions created in the project will be tested in the production of wires based on high-temperature superconductors (HTSC). The system under development includes the collection and processing of big data, digital models of technological processes, a module for designing new products, and elements of the industrial Internet of Things.
An HTSC-wire today is the basis for breakthrough solutions in several industries at once: electric power industry, new types of energy generation, aircraft manufacturing, space, and information technologies. The result of the project will reduce the time to market new customized products from 25 to two weeks, as well as reduce the level of rejection by 2.5 times.
The project of the Aeronet market involves the creation of a cargo tiltrotor platform with a lifting capacity of up to 80 kg. The ERA cargo drone will be a 4-engine vertical take-off and landing aircraft and will be able to transport goods up to 270 km at a speed of more than 150 km/h. Such an apparatus will be in demand in organizing logistics in remote regions, organizing transportation in the petrochemical industry, and other areas.
Replacing crewed flights with drone flights will allow customers to reduce operating costs significantly. The expected price and cost of ownership of the developed ERA drone will be 2–3 times lower than competing solutions for air transportation of cargo, both manned and unmanned. As a result of the project, it is planned to create a production facility capable of producing 50-70 freight drones per year with the possibility of further scaling. The company is discussing the possibility of joint projects and sales of AFS with aviation operators in Africa, Southeast Asia, and other regions, and also plans to be certified in the EU.
The project of the Club Movement is aimed at preparing a new generation of technology leaders in the direction of Marinet. It will be implemented by Nevelsky Maritime State University together with the FEFU and the Centre for the Development of Robotics.
Since 2020, the project initiators plan to hold underwater robotics competitions with the participation of 100 teams and over a thousand schoolchildren and students across the country, the best of which will represent Russia at international competitions. One of the main barriers to the introduction of underwater robotics in education is the lack of mentors. To prepare them, summer and winter schools are planned, in which at least 120 mentors will be trained in three years. To help teachers, schoolchildren and students will also develop webinars, video tutorials, educational designers in underwater robotics.
The National Technology Initiative is a long-term program to create new markets and provide conditions for Russia's technological leadership by 2035. NTI focuses on those markets in which it is possible to create industries of a new technological order that are significant in terms of ensuring national security and a high standard of living for citizens. Today, NTI brings together thousands of people — technological entrepreneurs, representatives of leading universities and research centres, development institutes, authorities, experts, and professional communities. Within the framework of the NTI, 8 “road maps” were approved for the markets of Aeronet, Avtonet, Marinet, Neuronet, Helsnet, Energy, Technet, and the Circle movement, about 500 projects received funding.
