Enel and GenerationS Summarize Energy Project Selection

Enel Group, one of the world's largest private operators in the electricity and gas markets, has summarized the collection of applications based on RVC's corporate accelerator GenerationS. Five projects took part in the in-person selection, which took place on November 18 in Rome. The best start-ups to be selected by the Enel experts will get a chance to implement pilot projects at the company's facilities, as well as, if successful, the opportunity to scale their decision to the markets of the countries where the company operates.

The projects presented at the in-person selection demonstrated their technological solutions to the management of Enel, as well as representatives of global business lines for thermal generation and renewable energy. Over 180 start-ups from Russia, Kazakhstan, Finland, the USA, Armenia, Singapore, and other countries have submitted applications for participation in the program. Of these, 151 — have undergone an initial examination, after which 29 start-ups were presented to Enel experts who selected five (5) finalist projects to participate in the final in-person selection at Enel's head office in Rome:

  • Kavaca Industrial has developed a multifunctional nano-ceramic coating that extends the life of solar panels, any surface, and equipment.
  • The In-pipe Robot Company develops robots for monitoring industrial and trunk pipelines.
  • SCOUT GC develops and implements on-board enterprises photo-video analysis of driver actions. The system can also be used in factories and hazardous facilities.
  • Software Package CYCLOPS analyses the video stream from the production facilities to respond quickly to possible violations of safety rules and equipment operating rules.
  • Warden Machinery is engaged in the serial development of machine vision systems for video analytics, product quality control, automation of visual inspection and equipment control, logistic accounting of material and technical resources, and the solution of other industrial problems.

Olga Maslova, Head of the Enel Innovation Centre in Russia
The selection was plentiful and very productive. We are impressed by the fact that we saw many exciting ideas, some of which will receive a real continuation. I want to note that Enel is the first international energy company to hold a joint competition with RVC. The selection results showed that the Russian innovation ecosystem has a great future.
Ekaterina Petrova, Director of Corporate Accelerator GenerationS from RVC
The Enel technology search and selection project is unique to the Russian market. In most cases, foreign companies work only through the Russian representative office; in the case of Enel, the projects have a real opportunity to show their developments to the primary customer — business lines at the head office in Rome. The teams that will be selected for the further launch of the pilots will receive a unique experience of maximally fast scaling upon successful completion of the project around the world.

Enel and RVC launched a competition for the selection of technological projects back in June this year. To search for start-ups, Enel identified the following areas — thermal generation, green energy, and sustainable development.
