MIET to Create a Data Processing Platform for the Industrial Internet of Things

Scientists at the MIET National Research University are preparing to introduce a unique platform for collecting and processing sensor data. asThis will automate and improve the accuracy of controlling systems using such devices, as was announced on Monday by TASS in the press service of Russian Venture Company.

The project received state funding following a competitive selection of leading research centers (LRCs), conducted with expert analytical support of RVC within the framework of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”. A 300 million roubles grant will support the development of the platform provided by the Trusted Sensor Systems program. It is planned to attract another 180 million roubles from the funds of participants in the consortium created based on the center.

“Russia to Create a Scalable Trusted Platform for the Collection and Processing of Sensory Information. The main result of the implementation of the LIC Program will be an automated information and control system for the collection and processing of sensory information (AIC SSI). This platform solution is intended to ensure that the control processes of touch-sensitive technical systems occur automatically, without the risk of data loss or distortion,” RVC told TASS.

A remarkable peculiarity of the platform will be the ability to connect promising solutions to it in the field of the industrial Internet (the press service also told TASS of RVC). This will improve the speed and effectiveness of disseminated analytics systems in terms of monitoring and analyzing data coming from a large number of heterogeneous sensors.

“The project is unique for Russia since the replicated “boxed” solutions (from terminal devices and boundary gateways to cloud services) are not yet available on the domestic market. The most popular global cloud platforms and software and hardware solutions [in this field] <...> are Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure [and others], <...>, however, connecting to different systems leads to increased risks associated with data vulnerability. A significant difference [of the Russian platform] <...> is the provision of a power of attorney, including access control at the level of the component base and the applied secure operating system of internal design. The system will be able to counter external threats and protect the information collected from unauthorized access and the possibility of changing or substituting information,” explained the representative of the agency.

It is expected that the work of scientists will be implemented based on an industrial partner - JSC Rusatom Automated Control Systems (JSC RASU, part of Rosatom State Corporation). Kaspersky Lab JSC, SPC ELVIS JSC, Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio Electronics (NRU TUSUR) and many enterprises will also participate in creating the platform.
