Tomsk company Mikran received a grant from Russian Venture Company (RVC) for the development of domestic 5G modules of medium and large service areas; It is planned to complete work on the project by 2022, a spokeswoman for Mikran told Tomsk RIA on Tuesday.
According to her, the competitive interdepartmental commission formed by the Ministry of Communications of Russia summed up the competitive selection of leading research centres and companies to develop products, services, and platform solutions based on end-to-end digital technologies.
She noted that the project involves the development of fifth-generation (5G) base station radio modules in the frequency ranges 3.4 ... 3.8 GHz and 4.4 ... 5.0 GHz (Sub-6 band), which is by far the most popular frequency range due to its reasonable balance between the capacity of communication networks and the coverage area.
According to the RVC website, grant support totalling 2.8 billion roubles, in addition to the Tomsk private pension fund, will be received by another ten organizations. Mikran is the only enterprise from the Tomsk Region to receive support. In total, 82 applications from 19 cities of Russia were received for the competition. The number of approved grants for the implementation of each program ranged from 224 to 300 million roubles for a period of up to three years.
Scientific-Production Firm Mikran JSC specializes in the production of microwave radio electronics, including telecommunication equipment and instrumentation. The company has more than 100 patents for inventions.
