During one year of work on the National Technology Initiative (NTI), the participants learned how to formulate technological barriers, allowing to create new markets in which Russian companies are able to take a leadership position and get capitalized, said the manager of the "Young Professionals" direction ASI Dmitry Peskov at the meeting of the Presidential Council on science and education on 23 November 2016.
As an example, he gave the samples of successful development of the Institute of Chemical Physics, Russian Academy of Sciences on hydrogen batteries, as well as a consortium of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and "a number of other institutions" on the return of the eye sensitivity by optogenetics methods.
According to him, investment in research and development are the main prerequisite for the survival of companies participating in the NTI in new markets.
The solutions that are capable of providing Russian companies with global leadership are necessary to be searched for at the interface of basic research and market technologies.
The foundation of our company's success on the world markets, according to Dmitry Peskov, has to be a strategy of scientific and technological development of Russia in the long run.
