The Winter City contest is held within the framework of the National Technological Initiative, and its prize fund is financed by subsidies from the federal budget.
Participants of the competition will have to develop an unmanned system for the car, with which it can move in extreme climatic conditions and with reduced visibility — in winter, at night, in rainy weather, and in the absence of road marking. Under the terms of the competition, the car must be capable of going independently 50 kilometres along the test site in no more than three hours and faster than the rest, observing the rules of the road and not provoking violations of other participants.
Applications for participation are accepted until September 1, 2018. Russian and foreign teams, companies, universities and scientific organizations can take part in the competition. In the upcoming fall, examination of applications will take place, following which the final teams will be admitted to the qualification tests. The tests will be held in February-March 2019, after which the jury will determine the winner.
Yandex became the technology partner of the competition: the company will provide its range for testing drones and help with the attraction of participants from among the Russian engineering teams, as well as take part in the development of the accelerating program for the contestants.
Exclusive rights to the developments created in the process of participating in the competition will remain with the participants.
The company did not exclude that the partners of the competition and corporate customers may be interested in the developments of the participants.
