Tech in Media competition of Innovation Journalism — 2015

The Tech in Media competition is designed to encourage and stimulate journalists and the mass media, engaged in the broadcast of innovation processes in Russia. The competition also helps to attract the attention of the public to technology development in Russia, and to the peculiarities of the financial mechanisms of the venture market, enhance the prestige of scientists and promote cases of the successful commercialization of scientific developments.

The Innovation in Journalists’ Vision competition was established by RVC, in 2011. Its format involves federal selection of the best works, in five nominations, with their expert evaluation. In 2014, the competition was rebranded to Tech in Media, taking the ideology of the same-name educational project for journalists, realized by RIA Novosti, with the support of RVC in 2013. The competition supervisory board was headed by the Nobel Laureate, Sir Richard Roberts, which he announced at the Tech in Media Awards’14 ceremony, conducted on the first day of the Open Innovation forum.

In 2015, 439 works from 39 Russian regions were submitted for the competition. The Topic-based finals were included in the programs of the following forums: U-Novus in Tomsk, Innoprom in Ekaterinburg and the all-Russian science festival NAUKA 0+ in Krasnoyarsk and Moscow. The high-profile awards ceremony of the V All-Russia Competition of Innovation Journalism Tech in Media was conducted on October 28, 2015 as part of the Open Innovation forum

Besides its own journalists' competition, RVC also announces special nominations within the existing selection formats. In respect to it, it is necessary to mention PRESSmission - a competition for mass media authors and producers with more than 10 years' experience. In partnership with the competition organizing committee, RVC established the Tech in Media nomination: Future. Works selected within this nomination and devoted to forecasts of development of the existing and emergence of new technology markets were quite popular among the jury.
