Open Innovation - Forum and Technology Show

Open Innovation forum is the biggest in Russia and one of the most fundamental, global events demonstrating the main trends and key achievements in the innovation economy.

The forum is arranged by the leading Russian institutes for development, where RVC is one of the co-organizers, and an intelligent partner of a significant part of the program.

Participation in the forum means new connections in the international venture and innovation environment, access to current information on the governmental instruments of support of innovation entrepreneurship, demonstrations of success and experience exchange. The forum makes it possible for scientists to establish connections with entrepreneurs interested in creation of the products, and, based on the scientific developments, receive expert evaluation of the projects and learn how to adjust them to business. The presence of the country leaders, at the forum, demonstrates the keen interest of the government in innovation development, and it always positively influences the investment climate of the country.

The Forum and Technology Show is the new format of Open Innovation, which starts in 2015.

The topic of the Forum is "The man at the junction of technological revolution trends." Five topic days discover five areas of people’s lives that have dramatically changed due to the influence of technology: performance, environment, education, health and entertainment. A forum without ties, the cult of entrepreneurship and creativity, the focus on innovative formats of content presentation and discussion - it's a new style of a contemporary international technology congress. Providing a platform for speakers from all over the world, Open Innovation pays special attention to the presentation of Russian technology companies: both global corporations - industry leaders and young innovation teams launching their projects on the global market.

The main forum theme was "Creative destruction: how to remain competitive in the 21st century."

The forum focus was on the reformatting and readjustment of the markets and the influence of this process on different technologies and players of the global innovation ecosystem.

The forum was attended by 16,000 people from 72 countries, 700 start-ups from 19 countries participated in it. 223 business events were conducted as part of the forum and exhibit; they included the 3 biggest RVC projects had conducted in their finals - Tech Success rating, Tech in Media competition and GenerationS accelerator. The award ceremony of the "Venture Investor" national premium was conducted as well.

The concept was updated in 2015. Open Innovation covered 5 areas of human life over 5 days:

  • Performance

Labour-saving, with new inventions, is driving further development in human civilization. Each round of the technological revolution has its own effect on performance, radically changing the structure of industries, employment in the economy, and the way of life in its entirety. How are human activities - from industry and agribusiness to creative industries and management - changing under continuous pressure, by digitalisation and IT revolution, robotics and artificial intelligence, and constant introduction of new materials and interfaces?

  • Environment

A modern, global metropolis is a complex organism, constantly producing and consuming technology. What does the city need to do to develop? How are exporting cities created, in the world market of technological entrepreneurship? What does a metropolis need, to become home to the world-class technology schools and corporations? On the other hand, to cope with the increasing challenges of the organization of life in the pressing environment, metropolises are becoming polygons for the introduction of the most modern technologies in construction, materials, transport logistics, finance, and organization of social interaction. What is the interaction between a technology consuming city and a technology producing city?

  • Health

Steadily increasing longevity and quality of life on the planet has already led to sweeping changes in the world social and economic tenor, affecting pension systems, financial markets, and putting whole countries to complex socio-political challenges. The planet is, once again, on the threshold of a series of revolutionary changes in the health industry, caused by the digitalisation, development of biotechnology, genomic and post-genomic technologies, and a large number of other scientific achievements. How will the global health industry change, upon a transition to personalized medicine, shift to monitoring and prevention of diseases, possibility of telemedicine, introduction of numerous capabilities of mobile devices into health management?

  • Education

A technology-driven revolution of generation, accumulation, and transfer of knowledge has become one of the global megatrends, which determines the economic and social changes on the planet. New professions and future professions, classical education as opposed to the explosive growth of new educational platforms, the world of open educational content and philosophy of "education as life style", new models of interaction between universities and corporations, mobile technology and gamification of education - how does it all change the modern system of acquiring knowledge and skills?

  • Entertainment

Better performance gives us time free from work, but it is immediately stolen by the entertainment industry. Media revolution and hegemony of social networks, digital art and gamification, interpenetration of the entertainment industry, work, and education, merging various entertainment industries into single corporations and clusters - all these, driven by technologies, are changing a huge sector of the world economy, which determines the way mankind is having fun. How will a person dispose of his/her free time, due to a new entertainment industry?
